With a power of 201 hp and a weight of only 223 kg, suspension technology and aerodynamics designed equally for high-performance road use, long-distance travel, and fast laps on the track, the new M XR appears as the lightest representative in the crossovers segment.

The new M XR features a modified water-cooled inline-four-cylinder engine based on the S 1000 RR engine. Its maximum power is 201 hp at 12,750 rpm, 31 hp more than the new S 1000 XR.

The torque of 113 Nm is achieved at 11,000 rpm. The increased power at the rear wheel in all conditions is provided by a shorter secondary gear ratio using a sprocket with now 47 teeth (S 1000 XR: 45 teeth).

Furthermore, the gear ratios for the 4th, 5th, and 6th gears are now shorter compared to the S 1000 XR, which also benefits traction and acceleration.

Aerodynamics were also a key consideration in the specifications for the development of the M XR.

The new motorcycle is equipped with winglets in the front side panel area with the aim of achieving even faster lap times on the race track and improving riding stability at high speeds.

From 100 km/h, they provide an increase in front wheel load thanks to aerodynamic downforce. This increases by approximately 12 kg at 220 km/h.
