Hyundai Motor has officially unveiled the IONIQ 3, a new 100% electric compact hatchback developed to meet the needs of the European market.

Positioned as the newest member of the IONIQ family, the model combines efficiency, interior space, and connectivity features within a concept the brand describes as more intuitive and practical for everyday electric mobility.

According to the manufacturer, the IONIQ 3 introduces the “Aero Hatch” typology, featuring a body designed to balance aerodynamic performance with optimal use of interior space. The vehicle adopts a low front end, an extended roofline, and integration with the rear spoiler—solutions that help improve the drag coefficient, estimated at 0.263, while also enhancing passenger comfort, especially in the rear seats.

Built on Hyundai Group’s E-GMP electric platform, with a 400-volt architecture, the new EV will be offered with two battery options. The entry-level version features a 42.2 kWh battery with an estimated range of 344 km (WLTP), while the long-range variant uses a 61 kWh battery and can reach up to 496 km. DC fast charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in about 29–30 minutes, depending on the configuration.

Inside, Hyundai highlights a cabin concept described as a “furnished space,” with a flat floor and a focus on comfort for five occupants. The trunk offers a total capacity of 441 liters, including an additional compartment called Megabox integrated under the floor. The brand also claims the model delivers space comparable to a higher segment, despite its compact exterior dimensions.

Among the key technology features, the IONIQ 3 will be the first European Hyundai model to debut the Pleos Connect infotainment system, based on Android Automotive OS. The setup includes 12.9- or 14.6-inch displays, along with features such as Digital Key 2, Plug & Charge, an EV route planner, and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology to power external devices.

In terms of safety, the hatchback will come equipped with the Hyundai SmartSense package, including systems such as Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA), surround-view monitor, and blind-spot monitor, in addition to seven airbags as standard. The model may also feature LED headlights with an intelligent front lighting system.

Designed in Europe and produced at Hyundai Motor Türkiye’s plant in İzmit, the IONIQ 3 will deliver up to 107.8 kW (147 hp), 250 Nm of torque, and a top speed of 170 km/h.

With this model, Hyundai reinforces its strategy to expand its EV lineup in the region with a product aimed at families, urban drivers, and consumers seeking a compact electric vehicle without compromising on space, range, and connectivity.
