The new 3.0 V6 engine was developed for mild hybrid and full hybrid vehicles, with power ranging from 350 to 400 kW, torque of up to 700 Nm, and integration with the new HORSE 4LDHT hybrid transmission.
Horse Powertrain has announced the HORSE W30, the company’s first production-ready V6 engine, ahead of its official debut at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. The new powertrain has been designed for electrified light vehicles and is expected to reach the market starting in 2028.
According to the manufacturer, the HORSE W30 marks the company’s entry into the V6 engine segment after its experience in developing optimized three- and four-cylinder engines. The goal is to combine high performance with energy efficiency in hybrid systems.

The new engine has a displacement of 3.0 liters and can be installed in either transverse or longitudinal configurations, expanding its application across different platforms. The 90-degree angle between the cylinder banks was chosen to lower the center of gravity, ease packaging, and optimize the layout of the aftertreatment system.
According to Horse Powertrain, the HORSE W30 can deliver between 350 and 400 kW of power and between 600 and 700 Nm of torque, with a maximum engine speed of 8,000 rpm. The company also states that the engine weighs 160 kg, about 10 kg less than the lightest V6 currently available on the market.
To improve efficiency and fuel consumption, the engine uses integrated exhaust manifolds and turbochargers mounted directly on the cylinder heads. The system was specifically developed for mild hybrid and full hybrid vehicles.
During the Beijing event, the HORSE W30 will be showcased alongside the new HORSE 4LDHT hybrid transmission, reinforcing the company’s strategy for high-performance electrified systems.
The HORSE 4LDHT weighs 199 kg and was designed for installation in a P1 + P3 configuration. In this system, the P1 electric motor supports the crankshaft and battery charging, delivering between 250 and 300 kW. The P3 motor, on the other hand, assists traction, with a capacity between 350 and 450 kW depending on the configuration.
With this development, Horse Powertrain expands its portfolio of electrification solutions and enters a segment focused on higher-performance hybrid vehicles, targeting launches expected to reach the market from 2028 onward.
