The updated Mercedes EQS has broken a record for the longest-range electric car in the world, offering around 925 km on a single charge.
According to Car and Driver, this figure represents a 13% increase over the previous EQS, which already held the title. The increase is attributed to a new two-speed gearbox that, like in the Porsche Taycan, uses two gears to benefit both acceleration and high-speed efficiency.
The car also comes equipped with a new rear motor and, as in the previous model, the front motor is disengaged when not in use, providing even greater energy efficiency.
800V technology is now installed in the car, making charging speeds of 350kW possible with a compatible charger. If you are limited to a 400V charger, you will reach a maximum of 175kW.

Aesthetically, it is noticeable that its design has become more focused on aerodynamics than appearance. Among the updates are new power domes on the hood and redesigned front and rear bumpers. Digital headlights are now standard and use micro-LED technology to project light up to 600 m while consuming 50% less energy.
Inside, there is new striped wood trim and heated seat belts. In the new model, the rear screens are larger and the electrically adjustable rear seats now come as standard. It is worth noting that Mercedes has integrated a yoke-style steering wheel for the driver, which will incorporate the manufacturer’s new steer-by-wire technology.
