Rostec has released an impressive video of the “Arktika,” an all-terrain truck developed specifically for operations in the harshest regions of the Far North. The presentation took place during Polar Explorer Day, highlighting innovations for extreme polar environments.

Designed by KAMAZ, the “Arktika” is equipped with a powerful 400-horsepower engine capable of operating in extreme temperatures as low as -60°C. The vehicle stands out for its wide wheels, which provide better traction on soft terrain such as deep snow and swamps, and for its articulated frame, which ensures high maneuverability in adverse conditions.

More than just power and durability, the “Arktika” also prioritizes safety and comfort: it features a passenger module that allows occupants to survive for up to three days in hostile weather conditions, providing shelter until help arrives.

During an expedition carried out this spring, the “Arktika” traveled more than 3,300 kilometers across the challenging routes of Yakutia and Chukotka.

The journey, initially expected to take 15 days, was completed in just seven, demonstrating the truck’s reliability and ability to navigate extreme terrain.

One of the most dangerous sections was the crossing of the Kolyma River, where the team faced submerged and unstable ice. “We walked for 300 kilometers literally on the brink of collapse.

There was one meter of water between us and the ice, and any wrong move could have been fatal,” said one expedition member.

According to Rostec, the “Arktika” is an essential tool for researchers, geologists, and rescue teams working in remote and inhospitable areas. The video with footage from the expedition can be viewed on the official KAMAZ channel.
