According to the Navy, this action is part of the “GLO do mar” operation, an initiative aimed at the intensive fight against drug trafficking, arms, and organized crime in general.

Started in November of last year, the “GLO do mar” operation’s main objective is to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. Its actions extend across Brazilian borders, including ports in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Until the end of last month, this operation resulted in the seizure of approximately R$ 73.1 million in assets, including vehicles, money, vessels, and various equipment. The operation was also responsible for the confiscation of over 99,000 tons, which, according to the Federal Government, represented a significant blow to criminal organizations.

So far, the “GLO do mar” has resulted in the arrest of about 1,783 suspects, in addition to the seizure of 226 weapons.
