Ukraine has received three CB90 combat boats donated by the private initiative ‘Steel Front‘. These boats were delivered to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (Головне управління розвідки Міністерства оборони України, abbreviated HUR), along with the necessary training for the crews.

This highly versatile platform is ideal for a variety of operations, including reconnaissance, surveillance, and information gathering. They have already been used in operations in the waters around Crimea, demonstrating their effectiveness in real combat environments.

The CB90s are manufactured by Saab in Sweden, known for their exceptional speed and maneuverability.

Equipped with two 600 kW marine diesel engines powering two water jets, combined with underwater control surfaces, these boats can reach a maximum speed of 40 knots (74 km/h) and come to a complete stop in just 40 meters. Their shallow draft makes them ideal for operations in coastal waters.

The total value of the boats and associated training is over $4.1 million.

‘Steel Front’ is an initiative that brings together all the military assistance provided by Rinat Akhmetov, one of Ukraine’s leading businessmen and philanthropists, and his companies.

Since the start of the large-scale war, in addition to these boats, Steel Front has provided a wide range of equipment, including electronic warfare systems, various vehicles, drones, tank shields, steel shelters for frontline soldiers, and personal protective equipment.

Also notable is the comprehensive support from the Heart of Azovstal for the defenders of Mariupol and their families.
