Ukraine has received ten ALTO NG light training aircraft, supplied thanks to support from the Czech government and donations made by the country’s citizens through the Dárek pro Putina charitable foundation.
According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, the delivery will strengthen the training of military pilots within the country’s own territory.

The new aircraft will be used during both the basic and advanced stages of training, allowing cadets to practice flying, navigation, and takeoff and landing procedures before transitioning to Western-made combat aircraft. The use of light aircraft also significantly reduces flight-hour costs compared with military fighter jets.

Of the ten aircraft delivered, five were funded directly by the Czech government, while the other five were purchased using funds raised through the Dárek pro Putina foundation’s campaign. According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, establishing a domestic training infrastructure will reduce dependence on overseas training programs and improve the efficiency of preparing aircrews.

Built by the Czech company Direct Fly, the ALTO NG is powered by a 100 hp Rotax 912 ULS engine and features a two-seat cockpit, a maximum takeoff weight of 600 kg, a cruising speed of 180 km/h, and a top speed of 260 km/h. The foundation behind the campaign stated that the aircraft was selected by Ukraine itself because it meets the requirements for the initial training of military pilots.
