The United States Marine Corps has placed its first order under its new Ultra-Light Tactical Vehicle (ULTV) contract, acquiring more than 70 units of the Polaris MRZR Alpha, along with several accessories aimed at military operations.

According to information released by Defence Blog, the agreement is part of a contract worth up to US$98 million signed with Polaris Government and Defense in May of this year.

More than half of the vehicles acquired correspond to the version equipped with the ability to export up to 5 kW of electrical power, allowing communication systems, sensors, electronic equipment and other external loads to be powered directly from the vehicle. The remaining units are the standard 1 kW configuration.

The MRZR Alpha is the latest model in the family of light vehicles used by the U.S. military for reconnaissance, logistics, medical evacuation and troop transport missions. Designed to operate on difficult terrain, the vehicle can be transported internally by aircraft such as the MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor and the CH-53 helicopter, allowing units to be rapidly deployed to remote areas.

According to Polaris, the new high-power variant meets the growing demand for energy in modern operations, especially for communications systems, tactical computing, sensors and air defense equipment. The solution also reduces the need for dedicated generators, freeing up space for additional supplies and equipment.

The U.S. Navy already operates more than 500 MRZR Alpha vehicles in different roles. The new contract, lasting up to five years, ensures the continuity of production and logistical support for the platform, considered an important element of the Marine Corps’ distributed operations and expeditionary mobility strategy.
