The British Army has received its 100th Boxer armored vehicle, marking another important stage in the modernization program of its mechanized fleet.

Manufactured in the United Kingdom through a partnership between RBSL and KNDS UK, the vehicle is part of an international project coordinated by OCCAR and the ARTEC consortium, also involving Rheinmetall. The program also strengthens the national industry by supporting hundreds of skilled jobs in different regions of the country.

Originally developed by Germany and the Netherlands, the Boxer stands out for its modular concept, which allows the same chassis to be used in different operational versions. Variants for infantry transport, command, ambulance and specialized support are currently in production, while new configurations are expected to be added in the future. In total, the British Army has ordered more than 600 units, which will replace the older Warrior and FV432 armored vehicles.

Government and industry representatives described the delivery as a milestone for the British defense sector. According to them, the program contributes to technology transfer, expands the United Kingdom’s industrial capacity and strengthens the local supplier chain, while also preserving strategic skills in advanced manufacturing and creating conditions for future exports of the vehicle.

The Boxer’s history in the United Kingdom, however, has been marked by changes in direction. Although the country took part in the initial development of the platform, it left the project in 2003 and only returned in 2018. Since then, production lines have been established in Telford and Stockport to ensure national manufacturing of the armored vehicle, consolidating an industrial capability considered strategic for the coming decades.
