Toyota excited fans after unveiling a concept for the new Corolla, the world’s best-selling car, which will receive an update for 2027.
The concept for the next-generation Corolla was presented by the Japanese automaker during the Japan Mobility Show 2025, according to the British tabloid The Sun.
The model, which is the best-selling car of all time with over 50 million units sold worldwide since its launch in the 1960s, is currently in its 12th generation.
For the next generation, it seems that Toyota will go for a more radical design than usual, including a lower, elongated windshield resembling that of the Prius.
In its production model, the car is also expected to feature deeper front windows for a more spacious cabin and improved aerodynamics.
The rear may also become more sculpted, with a tapered shape and a look reminiscent of a fastback. The concept also showcased a small floating rear window and a “ducktail” spoiler.

The next model will likely retain the lower windshield, cleaner surfaces, tapered rear, and 3D LED lighting.
Inside, the new Corolla will gain a digital interface, including a driver-side column-mounted screen and side control panels.
Meanwhile, passengers can expect a larger media and navigation screen, which may even be hidden when not in use.
The central pedestal, which includes the drive controls, is likely to gain practical features such as cup holders, a charging area, and extra storage space.
The prototype presented at the Japan Mobility Show appears to be an electric vehicle, but Toyota indicated that the new Corolla will also be available with gasoline engines, as well as hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
