Toyota unveiled the new bZ 2026, an updated version of the old bZ4X, which now brings significant changes in the name, design, powertrain, and technology.

The model drops the “4X” and is now simply called “bZ,” and it adopts the NACS charging port, compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network. In terms of design, the SUV now features body-colored fenders, new daytime running lights connected by a light bar, and a redesigned interior with a simplified dashboard, a larger 14-inch multimedia center screen, and a console with wireless chargers.

Under the hood, the bZ 2026 offers two battery options: a 52 kWh battery exclusive to the front-wheel-drive XLE version, which delivers 168 hp and a range of 379 km, and a 67 kWh battery available in the other versions. The XLE FWD Plus version reaches 221 hp and up to 505 km of range, while the Limited version, with larger wheels, offers slightly less range. All-wheel-drive models with two motors deliver up to 338 hp, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.9 seconds, with range varying between 447 and 463 km.

Another significant improvement is the onboard charger, which increases from 7.6 kW to 11 kW, speeding up charging on Level 2 outlets. On fast chargers, the maximum power remains at 150 kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in about 30 minutes.

Toyota has not yet revealed official prices, but the new bZ is expected to hit the North American market in the second half of the year, with starting prices around $42,000.
