Japan studies nuclear submarines to strengthen its fleet and counter Chinese influence
The Japanese Ministry of Defense is exploring the possibility of strengthening its submarine fleet with nuclear-powered units, which would be more autonomous and have greater range than current diesel-electric submarines, as part of a five-year development plan scheduled for 2027.
