GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN – September 8, 2025. Polestar has officially unveiled the Polestar 5 Grand Tourer, a four-door model that combines minimalist Scandinavian design, high performance, and a commitment to sustainability.

The launch marks the transition of the Precept concept, first presented in 2020, into series production with minimal changes, consolidating the Swedish brand’s future vision.

A strategic milestone for Polestar

With the Polestar 5, the company strengthens its position in the premium electric car segment at a time when competition with names such as the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan is intensifying.

For Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller, the new model symbolizes the realization of a dream:

“The Polestar 5 is bringing the future into our present. Our vision for design, technology, and sustainability is no longer just a promise, but a reality. With its pure Scandinavian design, powerful motors, innovative platform, and sustainable materials, the Polestar 5 is the guiding star of the industry and the perfect standard-bearer for the brand.”

Design: the legacy of the Precept

Inspired by the world of aviation, the Polestar 5 features long, flowing lines, a minimalist surface, and meticulously crafted aerodynamics. Its 5-meter-long profile is defined by a wing-shaped silhouette and Kamm tail, contributing to an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.24 Cd in the Dual Motor version.

At the front, the dual-blade headlights — now standard with Pixel LED technology — directly reference the Precept concept, as does the SmartZone, which houses advanced sensors and cameras for driver assistance.

Gloss black cladding along the lower body reduces the visual perception of its 1.42 m height, while the panoramic glass roof — the largest ever developed by Polestar — stretches over 2 meters long and 1.25 m wide, creating a sense of spaciousness for passengers.

Another highlight is the use of a digital rearview mirror and virtual rear window, a solution inherited from the Polestar 4, which allowed the rear structure to be moved back, freeing more space for second-row occupants.

At the rear, the continuous light bar was designed to blend aesthetics and efficiency, with an integrated diffuser and air vents that optimize airflow.

Colors and personalization

The Polestar 5 will be offered in six paint options, including two exclusive matte finishes:

Storm: a striking dark gray.

Magnesium: a refined light silver.

These shades reinforce the brand’s minimalist visual identity, balancing sobriety with sporty presence.

Interior: conscious luxury

The cabin follows the philosophy of minimalist Scandinavian luxury. Sustainable, responsibly sourced materials were chosen to convey modernity while upholding environmental commitments.

The use of recycled fabrics, aluminum details, and natural finishes creates a sophisticated and tech-driven atmosphere. The large panoramic roof ensures abundant lighting, transforming the interior into a space of well-being and connectivity.

Statement from the design team

Polestar’s head of exterior design, Nahum Escobedo, emphasized the importance of the project:

“It was a dream to conceive the Polestar Precept and even more rewarding to see it realized as the Polestar 5. We worked tirelessly to ensure the essence of the concept was preserved, and I believe the result is a car that blends aesthetic purity with technical innovation.”
