Final delivery completes the initial batch of 180 armored vehicles acquired in 2022
Poland has received an additional 20 K2 Black Panther tanks for the 16th Mechanized Division, officially concluding the first contract signed with South Korea for the purchase of 180 units. The announcement was made by the Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosinyak-Kamysh, in a statement released this Wednesday.
The original agreement for the supply of the tanks was signed on August 26, 2022. A few months later, in December of the same year, Poland received the first batch of ten vehicles, marking the start of the rapid integration of the K2 into the Polish Army.

In August of this year, Warsaw expanded its partnership with Seoul by signing a second executive contract to acquire another 180 K2 tanks. Of this new batch, 64 units will be produced in the K2PL variant, an upgraded and customized version designed to meet the specific requirements of the Polish Armed Forces.

Most of the K2PL tanks, along with auxiliary platforms and support components, will be manufactured at the ZM Bumar-Łabędy facilities, strengthening industrial cooperation between the two countries and expanding Poland’s domestic military production capability.
The total value of the new contract is USD 6.7 billion, covering not only the supply of the armored vehicles but also a comprehensive support package including training, maintenance, technical services and integrated logistics.
The arrival of the new tanks represents another important step in the modernization of Poland’s land forces, at a time marked by the reinforcement of national defense and the deepening of strategic alliances.
