Triumph Motorcycles has officially unveiled the new Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition, a limited edition that pays tribute to the spirit of the legendary British café racers of the 1960s.

The model will have a global production limited to just 800 units, each accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, reinforcing the motorcycle’s exclusive character.

Based on the Speed Twin 1200 RS, the new special edition focuses on an elegant and nostalgic sporty look, with several elements that directly reference the custom motorcycles that shaped British motorcycling culture.

The Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition will arrive at dealerships starting in March 2026, depending on the market.

Classic style with a modern touch

The motorcycle’s design was developed to capture the essence of classic café racers, highlighted by the clip-on handlebars that create a lower and sportier riding position.

Another striking element is the brown “bullet”-style seat, paired with a removable fairing that reinforces the typical single-seat profile of this motorcycle style. Triumph also removed the passenger footpegs, although they are supplied separately for those who wish to reinstall the passenger capability.

Among the premium details are:

  • Machined bar-end mirrors
  • Black head bolt covers
  • Ribbed emblems on the clutch and alternator covers
  • Sculpted knee pads on the fuel tank
  • Exclusive finishes for the rear footrests

Completing the look, the motorcycle receives an exclusive racing-inspired color scheme combining Competition Green and Aluminium Silver, along with silver wheels and a headlight finished in the same green tone.

Inspired by Café Racer culture

According to Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer at Triumph, the new special edition was created to sit at the top of the Speed Twin lineup.

He highlights that the motorcycle combines the success of the current model with direct references to the British café racer universe.

“The new Speed Twin 1200 has already won over riders in Europe and the United States who value performance, style, and everyday usability. The Cafe Racer Edition takes this concept to the next level by combining historic heritage with premium specifications and an extremely limited production,” said Stroud.

The origin of Café Racers

The café racer movement emerged in the United Kingdom during the 1960s, especially among young motorcyclists who gathered at roadside cafés such as the legendary Ace Cafe in London.

At the time, motorcycles equipped with Triumph Bonneville parallel engines became the ideal base for these transformations thanks to their strong performance, balance, and distinctive British identity.

Decades later, this aesthetic continues to influence riders and designers, who reinterpret the classic style using modern technology.
