The Jetour G700 recently drew attention after easily crossing a lake in China, thanks to its amphibious capability.
This extraordinary feature is available in the G700 Ark Edition, an amphibious version of Jetour’s hybrid SUV. In this configuration, the vehicle is equipped with a set of propellers that allow it to move normally in water.
When the car enters the water, the plug-in hybrid system—comprising a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and two electric motors—powers the propellers instead of the wheels, while a gyroscopic stability system ensures the SUV’s balance.
This makes the G700 quite different from the BYD Yangwang U8, which, although capable of crossing flooded areas, only floats for short periods rather than truly navigating.
But don’t think the G700 is a boat. Like the U8, the G700’s water mode is designed for emergency situations such as floods. Its fully sealed underbody allows the vehicle to remain in water for up to 40 minutes.

Recently, its capabilities were demonstrated by Jetour when the G700 was used to cross Yanqi Lake, north of Beijing. In October 2025, the SUV was also used to cross a 1.5 km stretch of the Yangtze River.
When it comes to performance, the G700 does not disappoint. Equipped with a plug-in hybrid system, the model delivers 904 hp and 115 kgfm of torque—enough to take the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, according to the manufacturer.
With a 34.1 kWh battery, the model can travel up to 150 km in electric mode, according to Jetour. When combined with the combustion engine, the system significantly extends the range, which can reach up to 1,200 km.
