DRASS, an Italian defense company, has delivered two Swimmer Delivery Vehicles (SDVs) to Indonesia’s Ministry of Defense as part of a broader effort to enhance the country’s naval underwater capabilities.
According to a press release issued by DRASS, the SDVs are equipped with advanced autonomous features, integrating state-of-the-art guidance and navigation systems along with a complete optronic periscope suite.
The company stated that all autonomous functions were rigorously validated during comprehensive sea trials, confirming the platforms’ reliability, safety, and operational readiness.
The delivery represents a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to providing modern naval forces with innovative, mission-ready underwater solutions tailored to evolving operational requirements, according to DRASS.
As part of the delivery program, DRASS conducted extensive at-sea pilot training to ensure Indonesian operators are prepared to deploy and manage the vehicles effectively in real-world operational environments.
DRASS thanked its partners, CSG and Republik Palindo, for the successful delivery. “This achievement underscores DRASS’s dedication to technological excellence, operational reliability, and long-term partnership in strengthening Indonesia’s underwater defense capabilities,” the company said in the statement.
