Israel has released new footage indicating a direct strike against an Iranian S-300PMU air defense system, considered one of the most sophisticated Russian-made assets in the country’s arsenal.
The footage shows what appear to be precision-guided munitions hitting a defensive position near the Iranian capital, although the exact location has not been officially confirmed.
The action is part of Israel’s ongoing air campaign against Iranian military infrastructure. Analysts say the target was likely a battery responsible for protecting strategic areas, reinforcing the idea that the strikes are aimed at weakening key points in the country’s defense network.
The S-300 systems were acquired by Iran after an agreement signed with Russia in 2007, with deliveries completed years later. Designed to intercept aircraft and missiles at long range, these systems play a central role in protecting sensitive facilities, including military bases and sites linked to the nuclear program.
However, previous operations had already significantly reduced the effectiveness of this defensive network. With a considerable portion of the systems destroyed, Iran’s ability to respond to new attacks has been compromised, increasing the exposure of strategic infrastructure and amplifying the impact of recent offensives.
