Ukrainian drones carried out an offensive against Russian UAV launch systems at Donetsk Airport, striking equipment used to operate Shahed and Gerbera drones.
The action took place on April 5 and was conducted by the 1st Unmanned Systems Center, targeting assets at the exact moment they were being prepared for new operations.
According to independent analysts, the vehicles were already positioned on the runway when they were hit. Russian forces attempted to respond using small arms to shoot down the drones, but were unable to prevent the attack, which used the FP-2 model developed in Ukraine.
Donetsk Airport has been used for months as a base for the storage and launch of these drones. Despite frequent Ukrainian strikes on depots at the site, Russian troops continue to reinforce protective measures and adapt their strategies to maintain operations.
In recent days, Ukraine has intensified attacks against mobile launch systems disguised as utility vehicles. Additionally, in early March, a reconnaissance drone guided a missile strike that caused a large fire and secondary explosions, with support from operators of the “Birds of Madyar” brigade, which specializes in unmanned systems.
