The Israeli Ministry of Defense has signed a $150 million deal with American manufacturer AM General for the purchase of hundreds of HMMWV military vehicles.
The acquisition, made official through the Israeli defense mission in the United States, also includes spare parts and technical support, with the first deliveries expected by the end of the year.

The HMMWVs, widely used by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), will serve various roles such as troop transport, casualty evacuation, logistics, maintenance, communications, and special missions. The acquired version was designed with reduced armor to increase transport capacity — more than ten soldiers — while allowing for multiple casualty care and, if necessary, fire support.
In addition to this acquisition, Israel is also investing in the purchase of JLTV armored vehicles. Through the US Foreign Military Sales program, the country has already ordered 75 units, further strengthening its fleet through commercial agreements.
The aim is to enhance ground force protection, especially during operations in the Gaza Strip, where resistance to mines and small arms fire is essential.
