Hyundai stated that classic items like manual transmission, traditional handbrakes, and analog dashboards are on their way out.

According to an executive from the brand, the low demand for these features, combined with emission requirements and the need to reduce production costs, does not justify keeping them in new cars. The brand emphasizes that most consumers, especially younger ones, prefer the conveniences offered by modern electronic systems.

In the United States, for example, only 30% of Hyundai Elantra N buyers chose the manual transmission version, while the rest preferred the automated transmission.

The company also notes that electronic parking brakes and digital dashboards have become standard on most new models, partly due to meeting consumer preferences and also enabling greater economies of scale.

As for traditional combustion sports cars, the Hyundai executive believes they have already been surpassed by electric cars in terms of performance and technology. He points out that models like the Ioniq 5 N can deliver much more than the old sports cars, and even the engine sounds can be efficiently simulated.

Therefore, for the automaker, insisting on the past makes no economic or practical sense given the changes in the automotive sector.
