According to the manufacturer, the Yak-130M is a modernized version of the advanced trainer Yak-130, designed to enhance its combat capabilities and adaptability for operational missions.
Modernization and New Systems

The new version incorporates a BRLS-130R radar, a thermal optical-laser system SOLT-130K, the electronic defense suite “President-S130”, and the communication system KSS-130.
These upgrades will allow the Yak-130M to operate under adverse weather conditions and around the clock, both in training and real combat missions.
Expanded Weapon Capabilities
Thanks to modernization, the aircraft will be able to employ air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface precision weapons equipped with satellite and laser guidance systems. Thus, the model retains its function as a training platform for fighter pilots while gaining capabilities comparable to those of a light attack aircraft.
Testing and Production Phase
During the ground tests, engineers will verify the performance of the new onboard systems to confirm the declared specifications. After this phase, the prototype will be prepared for its first flight.
Meanwhile, two additional Yak-130M units are being assembled at the Irkutsk plant, marking the beginning of the program’s pre-series phase.
