Finnish companies Sisu and Patria have joined forces to develop a new self-propelled mortar system, integrating the Sisu GTP 4×4 armored vehicle with the modular Patria TREMOS system.

A photo of the prototype was released by Sisu on its official X page. The system made its public debut at the DALO Industry Days exhibition, held in Denmark.

According to the portal SSBCrack News, cooperation between the companies had already borne fruit in the past with the ARVE system, a self-propelled artillery platform that combines the 155 mm Patria 155K98 gun with the Sisu E13TP 8×8 truck.

What is TREMOS?

The acronym TREMOS stands for Traditional REborn MOrtar System. The concept was first presented at the Future Mortar Systems conference in London, in October 2024.

Subsequently, the Finnish Defence Forces announced their intention to acquire the system under the designation 120 KRH M3, with delivery of a pre-production batch scheduled for 2025.

Capabilities and performance

The Sisu GTP TREMOS can integrate 120 mm or 81 mm mortars, standing out for its mobility and rapid deployment:

Top speed: over 100 km/h, enabling immediate repositioning after firing.

Rate of fire: 12 to 15 rounds per minute.

Quick response: the first three rounds can be fired in just 15 seconds; firing can begin within 60 seconds after arrival at position.

Robust platform

The basic chassis of the Sisu GTP is derived from the Mercedes-Benz Unimog, but with reinforced suspension. The vehicle has a payload capacity of 5 tons and a range of more than 700 km, ensuring strategic mobility for extended operations.
