U.S. President Donald Trump once again turned to social media to highlight American military power. On Saturday night, he posted on his Instagram account a video of the stealth fighter F-22 Raptor, describing it as “the best and most beautiful fighter jet ever built.”

The post came just hours before the arrival of the U.S. Southern Command near the Venezuelan coast, sparking speculation about a possible direct message to Nicolás Maduro and Diosdado Cabello.

Trump rules out ground troops in Ukraine and suggests air support as an alternative

During an interview with Fox & Friends on Tuesday, Trump categorically ruled out the possibility of sending U.S. troops to take part in a potential post-war peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.

“You have my guarantee — and I am the president. I’m just trying to stop people from being killed,” he said, in response to a question about what assurances he could give that American soldiers would not be deployed to defend Ukraine’s border.

The president clarified that the responsibility for ground troops would fall to European allies, while the U.S. could provide other forms of support.

Trump signalled that Washington is especially willing to cooperate in the air domain, emphasizing American technological superiority.

“We are willing to help them with some things, especially, probably, if you’re talking about airlift, because nobody has the kind of equipment we have,” he said.

The statement reinforces the White House’s strategy of avoiding long-term commitments with ground forces in Europe, while maintaining an aerial presence as a means of deterring new Russian offensives.

Geopolitical context

The coincidence between the posting of the F-22 Raptor video and the Southern Command’s deployment near Venezuelan waters was seen by analysts as a double signal: on one hand, support for Ukraine against Russia; on the other, indirect pressure on Caracas, Moscow’s ally in Latin America.
