The first Airbus A380 operated by Etihad Airways is getting a new role beyond the skies: part of its structure will be transformed into a limited-edition watch collection.

Watchmaker AIM, based in the United Arab Emirates, announced the launch of the ALPHA (A380) AUH Edition line, a special edition produced using components taken from an Airbus A380 aircraft that once belonged to the Abu Dhabi airline’s fleet.

The collection will be limited to 380 units, in direct reference to the A380 model itself. According to the brand, the watches incorporate parts from the aircraft registered as A6-APA, considered Etihad Airways’ first Airbus A380.

In addition to its historical value for the airline, the aircraft also carries another milestone: serial number MSN 166 corresponds to the 150th Airbus A380 delivered by the European manufacturer.

Watch combines aviation, design, and Swiss craftsmanship

Designed in the United Arab Emirates and manufactured in Switzerland, the ALPHA (A380) AUH Edition features details directly inspired by the world of commercial aviation.

Highlighted elements include an adjustment crown inspired by the Airbus A380 engine fan, sapphire crystal, a black dial coated with Super-LumiNova, and personalized numbering for each unit in the limited series.

The watch is listed at US$3,250, positioning the piece as a collector’s item aimed at aviation enthusiasts, collectors, and admirers of the history of the largest commercial passenger aircraft ever mass-produced.

The initiative also reinforces a growing trend in the luxury market: transforming components from retired or decommissioned aircraft into design objects, memorabilia, and collectible items.
