Last Tuesday (25), Embraer presented the F-39E Gripen fighter at the company’s airfield in Gavião Peixoto, in the countryside of São Paulo, Brazil.
During the event, the company also took the opportunity to test a prototype of an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, the “flying car” from Eve Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Embraer focused on urban air mobility.
The demonstration flight was successfully completed and represented another step forward in the testing campaign of the model, which is still under development and depends on certification from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) to enter operation.
For now, the tests have been limited to speeds of up to around 28 km/h, focusing on validating control systems, rotor efficiency, thermal behavior, and the propulsion system. In the coming days, the company is expected to expand the flight envelope, with tests that may reach approximately 56 km/h.
The company also conducted ground tests, such as the calibration of aerodynamic load sensors, complementing the flight activities. These actions are part of expanding the flight envelope and progressing toward certification stages, subject to approval by regulatory authorities.
“We are advancing with discipline and consistency in our test campaign, reducing risks and consolidating the foundation for future certification flights,” said Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility.
“The results obtained in these first months of the post-first-flight campaign, in December 2025, reinforce our confidence in the aircraft architecture and our ability to deliver a safe, efficient, and scalable solution for the urban air mobility market.”

With capacity for five occupants—four passengers and one pilot—the model offers a range of up to 100 kilometers, enabling short urban routes such as connections between cities and commercial areas.
According to Eve, deliveries and the start of commercial operations are expected in 2027. The company estimates that by 2045, the global eVTOL fleet could reach 30,000 aircraft, transporting more than three billion passengers and generating around $280 billion in revenue.
“We believe in the great potential of the global urban air mobility market and see Eve positioned to be one of the leaders in this industry,” added Francisco Gomes Neto, president and CEO of Embraer.
