Josh and Emily, from Idaho, USA, decided to leave the constraints of traditional life and embrace a more adventurous lifestyle. The young couple chose to exchange a quiet life for one with more freedom and opportunities to travel.

It all started in 2020, during the pandemic; both engineers, Josh and Emily began working remotely and realized that this form of work provided much more flexibility to organize their schedules. Both have always shared a love for travel and have always dreamed of being able to see more places.

So, in January 2021, they decided to take a risk and bought a school bus with the intention of turning it into a mobile home. The 12-meter-long vehicle was converted into a beautiful apartment on wheels, offering the couple a good space to live, work, and even travel without having to pay for plane tickets or hotel stays.

It took 18 months and almost 400,000 reais to make the bus the way they imagined it, and Josh and Emily affectionately nicknamed it ‘Aurora the adventure bus’. The mobile home features a double bedroom, an office for each, a bathroom with a shower, a full kitchen, solar panels, satellite internet, and even a little herb garden.

So far, the Scherrers have already visited aboard their mobile home Alaska, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado. The couple plans to live in the school bus for a few more years before building a house in Idaho. Even with plans in the future to live in a traditional residence, they do not plan to sell Aurora; it will always be used for trips and also to escape the winter months.
