The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford has concluded its stay in Europe after a five-day stop in Split, Croatia, and is now operating in the Mediterranean.
Considered the largest warship in the world, the supercarrier is part of Carrier Strike Group 12 and remains ready to carry out strategic missions in support of United States interests.
During the stay, the vessel underwent scheduled maintenance and resupply, ensuring the continuity of operations at sea. The crew also had time to rest, participating in cultural and recreational activities organized by the ship’s internal team. At the same time, the investigation into a fire previously recorded in internal areas of the aircraft carrier continues.
The visit also had a diplomatic and strategic nature. Rear Admiral Paul Lanzilotta met with the U.S. ambassador to Croatia, Nicole McGraw, to discuss the progress of the mission and the group’s level of operational readiness in the region.
Since leaving the Norfolk base in June 2025, the ship has operated in different areas of the globe, including the Arctic, the Mediterranean, and the Red Sea. The operation is part of a broader strategy by the U.S. Navy to strengthen naval presence, support allies, and ensure security and freedom of navigation on key maritime routes.
