Russian manufacturer Kalashnikov has announced the start of deliveries of the new SKAT 220 drone, an unmanned aircraft developed for monitoring, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

The model is an evolution of the SKAT 350M, already used by Russian security forces, and aims to offer greater speed and operational efficiency.

Among the main changes compared with the previous version are the reduction of the wingspan to 2.2 metres and a total weight of just 12 kg. According to the company, these changes allowed the equipment to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, a performance considered high for lightweight drones in the same category.

The SKAT 220 uses an electric motor and can remain in the air for more than two and a half hours. Its operation includes catapult launch and parachute recovery, features that facilitate its use in remote areas or locations with limited infrastructure. The developers also highlight greater durability and reliability for extended field missions.

In addition to reconnaissance activities, the new drone was designed to monitor strategic facilities, environmental areas, agricultural operations and energy and transport infrastructure networks. The launch of the SKAT 220 is part of Kalashnikov’s efforts to expand its line of unmanned aircraft, a few months after the presentation of the RUS-PE system.
