Nissan has responded with humor to comparisons between its electric Leaf and the new Ferrari Luce, a vehicle valued at around US$640,000.
The discussion began after the unveiling of Ferrari’s first electric car, when social media users pointed out similarities between the luxury vehicle and the Japanese EV. In response, Nissan said it was “flattered” by the comparisons.

“They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so thank you, Ferrari. Nissan. Always a smart choice,” the automaker joked in a post shared on its official Facebook page.
The Ferrari Luce, the Italian brand’s first fully electric vehicle, was developed with a focus on extreme performance and luxury, featuring more than 1,000 horsepower and a 0–100 km/h sprint in approximately 2.5 seconds.

Despite this, the vehicle’s more minimalist design sparked controversy, with some observers noting strong similarities to styling cues popularized by electric models from Asian automakers.
“You know Ferrari messed up when a Nissan looks better,” one Facebook user wrote. “Nissan is about to receive a letter from Ferrari crying about this,” commented another. “Don’t insult the Leaf like that,” joked a third user.
