China has unveiled a new armored bus developed for military operations in high-altitude regions, amid efforts by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to expand its ability to operate in mountainous and remote areas.
Images shown by Chinese state television show columns of the new vehicle operating on the Tibetan Plateau during military exercises. According to the website Defence Blog, the model was built on the FAW MV3 chassis, a platform already used by the Chinese armed forces in logistics and transport operations.
The vehicle appears to have been designed to transport troops in hard-to-reach environments, offering armored protection and greater mobility in high-altitude regions, where weather conditions and low oxygen levels often affect the performance of conventional vehicles.
The initiative is part of Beijing’s growing focus on mountain warfare, especially after border clashes between China and India in the Himalayan region. In recent years, the PLA has increased exercises and developed specific equipment for operations at altitudes above 4,000 meters.
