Romania, Serbia and Hungary carried out a new edition of the BLUE DANUBE military exercise, focused on naval and security operations on the Danube River.

The activity took place near the Romanian port of Calafat and brought together more than 160 military personnel, as well as vessels, boats and drones employed in different operational scenarios.

The Romanian Navy participated with units from its river flotilla, including the monitor Ion C. Brătianu and the armored patrol boat Posada.

The country also mobilized logistical support teams, divers specialized in river combat operations and border police vessels to reinforce the activities of the joint training exercise.

Serbian forces contributed with three military vessels, three boats and one drone, while Hungary sent military personnel to operate in the mission’s command center. The main objective of the exercise was to enhance integration among the three countries in patrol missions, rapid response and naval coordination on the Danube.

During the training, the teams carried out search and rescue exercises, interception of suspicious vessels, damage control, emergency repairs and towing operations. The maneuvers took place both on the surface and in submerged scenarios, simulating real river security situations.
