A man died after being pulled into the turbine of a Frontier Airlines aircraft during takeoff procedures at Denver International Airport in Colorado on Friday night (8). The case is being investigated by local authorities.
The aircraft, which was carrying 200 passengers to Los Angeles International Airport in California, had to abort takeoff after the incident caused a fire in one of the plane’s engines.
“Flight Frontier 4345 reported striking a pedestrian during takeoff at DEN at approximately 11:19 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026. There was a brief engine fire that was promptly extinguished by the Denver Fire Department,” Denver International Airport said in a statement.
Following the accident, passengers were evacuated from the aircraft. They were then transported by airport buses and emergency services back to the terminal.
As the investigation into the death continues, released footage showed the moments before the accident, showing the pedestrian walking on the runway before the tragic contact with the aircraft.
“As this is an active investigation involving several other agencies, it will take some time as we are still confirming what information we can share at this moment,” said Denver Airport CEO Phil Washington.
“This was a horrible and preventable tragedy that affected many due to the actions of a person who apparently trespassed into an airport and lost their life as a result.”
