Bugatti has unveiled the W16 Mistral “Fly Bug”, a new exclusive creation developed through the Bugatti Sur Mesure customization program.

The model was commissioned by a brand collector and takes its main inspiration from the dragonfly, combining handcrafted finishes, bespoke paintwork, and visual elements linked to nature.

The hypercar joins a private collection made up of three other customized models: Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse “Hellbug”, Chiron “Hellbee” and Divo “Lady Bug”. All follow an aesthetic concept inspired by small animals and insects, creating a unified visual identity within a series of unique commissions.

In the case of the W16 Mistral “Fly Bug”, the Bugatti team developed an exclusive paint called “Dragonfly Blue”. The shade shifts between blue and turquoise depending on the light and viewing angle, referencing the shimmering wings of a dragonfly.

In addition to the special color, the model features an ellipse pattern applied to the bodywork. The design spreads across the exterior of the car, becoming denser at the rear and gradually fading near the air intakes.

The interior follows the same visual concept. Bugatti developed a multi-layer material with leather over Alcantara, applied in a geometric pattern and paired with the “Dragonfly Blue” color. According to the brand, this is the first time a graphic pattern has been applied both to the door panel surface and the armrest area.

Another technical detail highlighted by the manufacturer is the integration of the traditional Bugatti Macaron emblem into the elliptical pattern on the side of the car. The application was carried out at the client’s request and required adjustments in scale and positioning to preserve details such as letters, dots, and the contours of the symbol.

On the gear selector, the model also features the “Dancing Elephant” figure, a reference to sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti and the brand’s historic connection to animal-inspired forms.

According to Bugatti, the development of the W16 Mistral “Fly Bug” took several months from final design approval to the completion of the vehicle. The project involved teams from design, engineering, materials, finishing, and customization within the brand.
