Currently, Tupolev JSC is the sole developer of strategic and long-range aircraft in the country – Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3, and Tu-160. These aircraft are the pride and symbol of the power of the Aerospace Forces from the Soviet era to the present day.

The Tu-160 bomber, or “White Swan,” is the largest supersonic and variable-geometry aircraft in military aviation history, as well as the world’s heaviest combat aircraft, having the highest maximum takeoff weight among bombers. At the time of its creation, the characteristics and capabilities of the Tu-160 were revolutionary, many of which remain unique to this day.

The Tu-160 aircraft hold 44 official world records.

Each Tu-160 was given a unique name: Heroes of the formidable Soviet Union, Chief Designers Andrey Nikolayevich Tupolev and Valentin Ivanovich Bliznyuk, and other notable figures directly related to Long-Range Aviation.

Besides the Tu-160, in Long-Range Aviation, unique names are given to Tu-95MS missile carriers (in honor of Russian cities) and Tu-22M3 (in honor of distinguished pilots).

The Tu-95MS missile carrier is the world’s fastest and only serial bomber and missile carrier with turboprop engines. The high flight qualities of this aircraft are confirmed by 60 aviation world records.

The aircraft is nicknamed “Bear” (from the English – Bear, as the missile carrier is called in the West).

The long-range supersonic Tu-22M3 bomber was designed to strike maritime and ground targets.
