Lexus unveiled the all-new ES 2026 at Auto Shanghai, marking a complete redesign of the luxury sedan after years of incremental updates.

Inspired by the LF-ZL concept, the new design ditches the oversized front grille in favor of bold, striking lines. In addition to the hybrid versions with 2.0 and 2.5-liter engines, the model will now also be offered in a fully electric version, with a range of up to 685 km on the CLTC cycle (or about 483 km estimated for the U.S.). The most powerful electric version, with all-wheel drive, delivers 338 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.

Inside, the ES adopts a minimalist approach, with fewer physical buttons, a 12.3” digital dashboard, and a 14” central display, as well as options such as a passenger screen, panoramic sunroof with automatic dimming, and rear seats with massage. The interior trim has also been refreshed, with a new bamboo color and 3D-printed details mimicking the material. New lighting in the doors also makes its debut in the Lexus lineup.

The new ES is larger and wider than its predecessor, with increased wheelbase and height, especially in the electric version. It also features a rear multilink suspension and four-wheel steering, which enhances comfort and drivability. The new generation uses Toyota’s updated TNGA GA-K platform and will offer wheels ranging from 18 to 21 inches.

Despite the global debut, the official market launch is not expected until mid-2026.
