Young motocross rider Aidan Zingg, just 16 years old, passed away last Saturday (28) after a serious accident during a race at the Mammoth Mountain MX event in California, USA.
A native of Hemet, he fell in a turn and was run over by several motorcycles, remaining unconscious on the track for two laps until the race was halted. The injuries caused by the impact were fatal.
Zingg was considered one of the biggest promises in American motocross and had recently transitioned to the professional circuit, sponsored by brands such as Oakley, Bell, and Renthal. In 2024, he won the AMA amateur national title in the Supermini 2 class and was runner-up in Supermini 1. Since 2019, he had qualified every year for the prestigious AMA national championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch and was preparing to compete in the 250cc class starting in 2025.
Aidan’s death caused widespread grief in the sports community. Riders and specialized media paid tribute on social media, highlighting the young rider’s early talent and charisma. Friends and journalists who followed his journey remembered his humility and passion for the sport, even in the face of success on the tracks.
