A woman was arrested after authorities discovered that she had purchased a Lamborghini while receiving government benefits.

Candace Taylor, 35, claimed she was earning less than \$4,000 per month when she was approved for the Medicaid program, a U.S. government benefit that provides healthcare coverage to low-income individuals.

She used a false name, Candace “Sailor”, for her first application in 2019 but was denied. However, according to authorities, she reapplied in 2020 and was approved.

Despite her claim of having a “low income,” Taylor operated several businesses between January 2020 and December 2024 that brought in over \$9.5 million across various accounts she controlled, according to Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.

After being approved for Medicaid, Taylor made several six-figure withdrawals through bank checks to pay for plastic surgeries, jewelry, real estate purchases, and luxury services.

She also made a \$100,000 bank transfer to an exotic car dealership, as well as a \$13,000 debit card transaction to purchase a 2022 Lamborghini Urus.

Taylor was arrested on Monday (28) after an anonymous tip alleging the fraud. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison while investigations are ongoing. Taylor, however, claims she is innocent.
