Volvo announced the launch of the world’s first electric articulated truck, the A30 Electric and A40 Electric models, which will be available for selected customers in Europe starting in 2026.

These trucks are designed to serve industries such as mining, quarries, and construction, offering a payload of up to 39 tons. They stand out for their zero emissions, aligning with Volvo’s ambition to decarbonize the construction industry while maintaining the performance of its traditional machines.

Equipped with lithium-ion batteries, the trucks have a range of four to six hours, depending on operating conditions. Fast charging allows them to reach 20 to 80% charge in about an hour, with a 350 kW capacity.

When powered by renewable energy, the A30 Electric and A40 Electric models provide a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, with savings of up to 90% compared to diesel models.

In addition to their energy efficiency, these new trucks feature cutting-edge technology focused on safety, efficiency, and operating time. Operators will be able to monitor the charge status and energy consumption via Volvo’s My Equipment app, ensuring more efficient and remote management.

With improvements in visibility, operator support, and simplified maintenance, these trucks are set to revolutionize operations in environments such as quarries and tunnels.
