The last Volkswagen GTI with a manual gearbox has already been manufactured and sold, officially ending the era of manual transmissions in this model.
The final unit, a black GTI 380, was sent to a dealership in Montana, USA, without any special ceremony and sold with little fanfare. The buyer was Jamie Orr, a Volkswagen enthusiast who drove over 2,300 miles from Pennsylvania to pick it up.
For the journey, Orr used a Volkswagen Atlas with a special Harlequin paint job inspired by the multicolored 1995 Polo, demonstrating his passion for the brand.
The GTI 380 was launched in 2023 as a farewell edition to the manual gearbox, retaining classic features such as plaid seat details, black mirrors and roof, and a turbo engine with 241 hp and 370 Nm of torque.
From now on, the GTI will only be available with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, just like the Golf R, which also lost its manual option in the 2025 lineup.
