Volkswagen ID. Every1: compact and affordable electric car promises to revolutionize the market (Instagram @volkswagen)
Volkswagen has revealed the ID. Every1 concept, a compact electric car that could become the brand’s entry-level option starting in 2027, with an estimated price of $21,900.
Smaller than a Renault 5, it follows the lineage of the urban models Lupo and e-Up, offering space for four passengers and a 305-liter trunk.
The model uses the MEB platform, the same one as the ID. 2, and focuses on more accessible technologies and large-scale production to keep costs low. The simplified design, with no extra coverings and optimized structural parts, also contributes to cost savings.
The ID. Every1 will have a 94 hp electric motor, reaching up to 130 km/h and a range of over 250 km, making it ideal for urban environments but also capable of highway driving. VW promises a new software architecture, allowing updates over time, supported by a partnership with Rivian to enhance the vehicle’s electronic control.
Despite the focus on compact electric vehicles, CEO Thomas Schäfer admitted that the segment is not the most profitable and that the company will need production volume to make it viable.
It is still unclear whether the production model will retain the ID nomenclature, as VW is considering reviving classic names like Polo and Golf. The concept is part of the brand’s renewal plan, which aims to launch nine new models by 2027, including the ID. 2, which will be presented in 2025.
