Volkswagen announces the new Transporter 2025: larger, more powerful, and with innovative design (Carsales)
Volkswagen is set to launch the seventh generation of the Transporter, which will feature a new design and have its details revealed soon.
The new Transporter is part of the ‘Project Cyclone’ alliance with Ford, resulting in a vehicle that shares many characteristics with the recently launched Ford Transit Custom. This includes a robust range of diesel engines, an electric version, different lengths and heights, as well as innovative features such as a flat cabin floor and an L-shaped partition for increased storage space.
Despite the structural similarities with the Transit Custom, Volkswagen has strived to give the Transporter its own identity. The design incorporates iconic elements from the Bulli lineup, with visual references to previous models like the T5-inspired front grille and T6.1-reminiscent headlights, along with an enhanced cargo compartment.

In terms of capacity, the Transporter promises to be practical, with a payload capacity of up to 1.33 tons and a maximum towing weight of 2.8 tons. External and cargo compartment dimensions have increased compared to the previous model, offering more interior space and facilitating the transport of Euro pallets.
The vehicle will be available in versions with different seat numbers, including a future Kombi version with up to nine seats.
The engine lineup will include diesel options of 110hp, 150hp, and 170hp, with front-wheel drive as standard and the possibility of rear-wheel drive for the more powerful engines. A plug-in hybrid and a fully electric model are also planned.
The new Transporter will be fully unveiled in the first half of 2024, with a planned launch in early 2025 in the UK. The starting price of the model is around $40,000.
