A woman is alerting internet users after receiving $1,000 compensation from the government for damage to her Tesla caused by a pothole in the road.
Daj posted a video on TikTok to explain that her Tesla Model S was damaged after she drove over a pothole on a street in Boone County, Missouri (USA).
In the clip, she showed the documentation indicating that she will receive compensation from the government to cover repairs to her vehicle.
“The state tried to play me with these potholes… knowing they owe me more, but it’s okay! File that claim!” said Daj in the post.
The letter is titled “Material Damage Authorization,” which also presents the claim number associated with Daj’s incident. In the claim, she stated that her Tesla Model S was damaged on July 13, 2025, after driving over a pothole.
She then showed the check she received, for the amount of $1,000. Daj’s video has already received over 100,000 views, and many comments from internet users who shared their attempts to do the same.
“I tried this once and they didn’t pay because they had a rule saying that if they fixed it within 24 hours, they wouldn’t have to pay anything,” revealed a TikTok user.
“In Texas, they always deny claims,” said another. “Also, they won’t pay if people didn’t report the pothole [before],” said a third internet user. “New York would never do this,” commented one more.
