A woman was amazed after discovering that her Toyota Camry has a feature that allows her to start the car remotely using the key fob.
In a video shared on her TikTok profile, content creator Kierra Tashee demonstrated how the feature works and explained that she had gone months without knowing her car could do this.
“One of the main reasons I’m happy I chose to be on TikTok? Because you learn something new every day,” she joked at the start of the clip.
Standing at a distance from her car, Kierra held the key fob and proceeded to show how she could start the vehicle without even being inside or having the key in the ignition.
“Unlock, lock, lock, hold it the third time, release,” she said just before the Camry started up on its own right in front of her. “I’m amazed.”
Kierra then explained that she had struggled to start her car during the winter since it sits outside in freezing temperatures. “Now, I don’t even have to leave the house,” she said.
Kierra’s video has already accumulated over 3 million views, more than 400,000 likes, and thousands of comments from viewers equally impressed by the scene.
“Wait a minute, I need to go check,” said one TikTok user. “Wow, does my [Honda] Accord Sport 2018 do that?” asked another. “Maybe this works on my 2003 [Camry],” joked a third user.
At the same time, some commenters pointed out that the process is quite complicated compared to the same feature on cars from other brands. “They made you do Mortal Kombat combos… this is totally unfair,” one argued.
“Why does Toyota’s remote start have to be so complicated?” asked another. “You can also download the Toyota app and start your car from your phone,” another recommended.
