The site was identified by Ukrainian SOF units, which transmitted the coordinates (51.055, 36.186) to the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The information was then passed on to the operational units of the HIMARS system, which carried out the attack with M30A2 missiles.

These missiles are equipped with approximately 180,000 tungsten fragments — small destructive spheres — that disperse around the central explosive charge of 23 kg. The impact is lethal within a radius of up to 70 meters, making the weapon highly effective against troop concentrations and equipment.

The video released by the SOF shows the wreckage of the helicopters and tire tracks on the ground, suggesting that the base is regularly used by Russian forces and that the helicopters were operational at the time of the attack.
