According to the military, in a span of three weeks, operators of the 3rd Separate Regiment of the Special Operations Forces managed to neutralize several anti-air missile systems. “Three air defense systems were hit between late April and early May. The fourth Buk was destroyed the other day by SOF soldiers,” Ukrainian military authorities reported.

The strategy of the Ukrainian forces includes intensive reconnaissance operations to identify the locations of the Buk air defense systems. Once located, the targets are swiftly attacked with attack drones while reconnaissance drones monitor the execution.

The new drone used in these attacks represents one of the latest advancements incorporated into the Special Operations Forces’ arsenal. “This is one of the latest developments that have entered service with the Special Operations Forces,” they highlighted.

The destroyed Russian system, identified as 9A310M1-2, was equipped with two missiles and its own radar station. However, it was reported that the system’s radar failed to detect the Ukrainian reconnaissance and attack drones operating in the area, highlighting a critical flaw in Russian air defense.

It is speculated that the new Ukrainian attack drone is equipped with an advanced guidance system, or “machine vision,” which contributed to the mission’s success.
