Video shows the Corvette “Ivan Mazepa” of the Ukrainian Navy successfully conducting artillery tests in the Aegean Sea

Published on November 9, 2024, on the Ukrainian Navy Commander’s Facebook page, a video shows the Ada-class corvette “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” (F211) conducting firing tests in the Gulf of Saros, in the Aegean Sea, north of the Gallipoli Peninsula.
In the footage, the corvette fires from the 76 mm OTO Melara Super Rapid gun mount, the 35 mm Gökdeniz anti-aircraft artillery system, and the remotely controlled STAMP-2 combat module with a 12.7 mm caliber. During the tests, the “Ivan Mazepa” demonstrated excellent accuracy in targeting aerial, maritime, and ground targets.
These tests are part of the ship’s certification process, as it continues to successfully pass state evaluations. Equipped with advanced weapon systems, the vessel has substantial combat capabilities due to upgrades focused on maximizing operational efficiency and safety. Enhancements to air defense systems were among the implemented improvements, aimed at protecting the vessel against various threats.
The corvette “Ivan Mazepa” represents more than a technological advancement; it is a symbol of the resilience of the Ukrainian fleet and the nation’s determination to uphold its maritime sovereignty. “Our confidence in our capabilities is growing, and we are ready to face new challenges on the battlefield. The Ukrainian Navy has suffered significant losses since the conflict with Russia began in 2014, especially following the annexation of Crimea, where much of its fleet was based. In May 2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have destroyed Ukraine’s last major warship, the “Yuri Olefirenko,” in the port of Odessa.
