The SBU reveals an upgraded version of the maritime drones that shifted the balance in the Black Sea and took part in successful attacks against Russian targets, including the Crimea Bridge.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has officially presented a new generation of unmanned naval platforms, the “Sea Baby,” which have already undergone operational testing during real missions in the Black Sea.
According to the SBU, these drones were used in the third successful attack on the Crimea Bridge, which took place on June 3, 2025.

SBU head Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk emphasized that the Sea Baby drones “changed the balance of power in the Black Sea and proved their effectiveness,” adding that the new versions are even more advanced:
“The cleansing of the Black Sea from the Russian invader will continue. The enemy will feel the full power of our technological innovations.”

According to Brigadier General Ivan Lukashevych, known by the codename “Hunter,” the “Sea Baby” drones were responsible for delivering explosives to the critical points of the bridge, destroying the pillars of the structure considered illegal by Ukraine.
The new drone versions were funded through donations collected via the national crowdfunding platform UNITED24. Lukashevych also stressed that the SBU is “the driving force behind a new type of naval warfare,” working to maintain Ukraine’s technological edge in the Black Sea and to fulfill the mission set by President Volodymyr Zelensky: to neutralize Russia’s naval power in the region.

The SBU also confirmed that it is developing other types of modern weapons already successfully used in naval operations, though details remain classified for security reasons.
Ukraine’s use of maritime drones has forced Russia to relocate most of its Black Sea Fleet to the port of Novorossiysk, paving the way for the reestablishment of the so-called “grain corridor” — a vital route for Ukrainian agricultural exports.
