The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has delivered another batch of Su-35S multirole fighters to the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). This “4++ generation” model is designed for air superiority missions and precision strikes.
The aircraft underwent a full cycle of factory tests and technical evaluations by the Russian Ministry of Defence.

According to a VKS pilot, the Su-35S will be deployed to the “special military operation” and will operate both in covering air units and in protecting ground targets.
Rostec’s executive director, Oleg Evtushenko, stressed that the Su-35S is among “the most effective fighters in the world,” armed with long-range air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, as well as modern electronic warfare systems.

Vadim Badeha, UAC’s general director, added that the modernisation of facilities and increased production remain priorities within the state defence programme.
Documented Su-35S losses in the war in Ukraine
Despite reinforcements, the Su-35S has sustained significant losses in the conflict:
- In June 2025, a Su-35S was shot down in the Kursk region, according to Kyiv.
- In May 2023, at least two fighters were downed by Ukrainian Patriot systems in the Bryansk region.
- In September 2023, another Su-35 was hit by Russian friendly fire after an identification system failure in Tokmak.
It is estimated that six to seven units have already been lost since the start of the invasion — a significant figure given the cost and strategic importance of the aircraft.
